Overview

I̽ Kri̽ Med was founded durring the late 14th century in winter of the year 1270, by Yó̄kīs Mbōkīkī 'Olivia Zeni' Bë̂ Ga̋nḱ Cúchī̄s Agondren. The establishment of I̽ Kri̽ Med was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Yó̄kīs Mbōkīkī 'Olivia Zeni' Bë̂ Ga̋nḱ Cúchī̄s Agondren struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish I̽ Kri̽ Med as a prison colony.

I̽ Kri̽ Med was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and I̽ Kri̽ Med is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

I̽ Kri̽ Med is buildings are arranged within a network of crampt gravel streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The city has a set of well fortified walls, with gatehouses, watch towers, battlments, and even a moat, which are fashioned from stone and timber. I̽ Kri̽ Med's walls are, howeaver, fashioned from stone and timber. While unorthadox, the design looks to be functional to a reasonable degree. With luck, the untested design will remain untested for years to come. I̽ Kri̽ Med's unusual though effective defenses are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the city as needed.

The city shows nothing out of the ordinary, at first glance. Then you start to notice all the small things. Each window has seven iron nails pounded into the sill. Every door has a sprig of holly overhead. Every well is branded with purity seals and runes to ward the contents. Everyone is carrying a small charm for safety or fortune, be it a rabbit’s foot, a horseshoe, or other little totems.

Cultural Notes

The locals have cut a deal with some unspeakable entity, trading some form of tribute (benign of horrific) in exchange for the being’s forbearance or assistance. Outsiders may be ignorant of the bargain, or they may know that the community is in thrall but be too fearful of its master to take action against them. The creature likely serves as a protector as well as a tyrant, so the locals may be content with the deal even if it doesn’t offer any further inducement or aid.

I̽ Kri̽ Med's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used has a sleek, linear appearance with stylized, often geometric ornamentation. The primary facade of its buildings often featured a series of set backs that create a stepped outline. Low-relief decorative panels can be found at entrances, around windows, along roof edges or as string courses. It was best known for its use of smooth finish building materials such as stucco, concrete block, glazed brick or mosaic tile. Decorative details can incorporate various artistic or exotic motifs to suit the building's function or the architect's whim. Chevrons, zigzags, and other geometrical motifs are common forms of ornament.

In I̽ Kri̽ Med most nights are accompanied by colorful ribbons of light in the sky.

The Sandman near I̽ Kri̽ Med are known to be more aggressive than normal.

I̽ Kri̽ Med's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves creating small tokens to channel Illusion energies of tier 2 via throat chanting.
